Why Innocity Lab?

It all started with a question I had for years:
How can I use what I know, what I love doing, to help build sustainable solutions?

As a product engineer and entrepreneur, I have spent my career developing solutions that blend technology, design, and practicality. When we created the Nomade Pavilion, a solar-powered cooling shelter at MDS+ in Singapore (www.mdsplus.com), something clicked. I realized we could take that experience and use it to improve quality of life in hot, urban environments while respecting the environment.

When we deployed Nomade in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, I saw firsthand the ambition of the UAE, and other Arab countries, to improve urban living while reducing environmental impact. It was inspiring to see that the Arab world is ready for smart, sustainable cities.

Around the same time, I was connecting with universities, incubators, and researchers around the world and discovered a plethora of innovative technologies. But too often, those ideas remained in labs.

The pieces were finally clicking together. That’s why I started Innocity Lab:
